Dr. Blair is the past Executive Chair and President of Photon Controls Inc. Dr. Blair is a director for a number companies including Biomira Inc., Indian Oil and Gas Canada and several technology start-up companies in Western Canada. Dr. Blair is also a director of Qwest Energy Corp., and a number of its related entities.

Dr. Blair is the past Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Nova Corporation of Alberta and has served on the boards of such notable firms as Husky Oil, Dofasco, Canron, Uniroyal Ltd. and the Bank of Montreal. Dr. Blair also served on the Economic Council of Canada and Co-Chaired the Federal and Provincial Minister's Major Projects Task Force and served as Canada's Commissioner General at Expo 2000.

Dr. Blair is a professional engineer who has received numerous awards of distinction including top medals of the Engineers of Ontario and Alberta and the Engineering Institute of Canada. He has been made a Companion of the Order of Canada and received honorary doctorate degrees from the universities of Alberta, British Columbia, Lethbridge, Queens and Trent.
